10 Cara Memulihkan Energi Dengan Cepat

6. Gunakan warna terang

Keunikan Orgasme Wanita Yang Tidak Terjadi Pada Pria

The Snark - the meanest VTOL UAV on the planet

Meet the Snark – an Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle of immense capability that demonstrates just how far the breed has come in such a short period of time. Constructed mainly of Carbon Fibre and Kevlar, the Snark is light and fast (280 km/h), quiet (special rotor blades make it extremely quiet ), virtually invisible to radar or infrared detetection (it recycles its exhaust gases and emits little heat) and can carry a payload of 680kg, offering the ability to pack both massive firepower (enough to sink a ship) and surveillance equipment (such as high res infrared cameras with a magnification of 7500). But wait, there’s more, and this is the clincher. The Snark is the first UAV that runs on diesel fuel, which means it can be easily integrated into any military force – current UAVs require their own special fuel supply to be transported with them whereas the entire US Army plans to run on a single one fuel - diesel. Last and probably most importantly, the Snark can stay airborne for 24 hours at a time, offering an unprecedented loiter time for a machine of this capability.
The Snark is built by New Zealand-based commercial helicopter manufacturer TGR Helicorp and seems likely to put the staunchly independent country on the armaments industry map in a big way as it offers capabilities far beyond any current VTOL UAV.
Apart from the obvious autonomous long-range attack and surveillance capabilities, the payload and stealth aspects of the Snark make it ideal for a range of search, rescue and medical evacuation operations as the Snark can carry two fully equipped soldiers into or out of the battle zone. Clearly, under such circumstance, the Snark’s stealth qualities will be very useful. The Snark is designed to recycles its exhaust gases and consequently emits very little heat, making targeting the Snark with a heat-seeking missile very difficult. The company is enhancing this stealth aspect with specially developed rotor blades to reduce noise. “The Snark can’t be heard more than 250 yards away,” says Rogers..
And the Snark’s remarkable range and speed give it the ability to cover vast territories making it ideal for coast guard duties – not so important to isolated New Zealand, but ideal for its neighbour Australia with its massive coastline.
The Snark is equally as mean and nasty as the creature from which it took its name – the mythical Snark in a Lewis Carroll poem. Already in its third iteration, the machine has developed its immense capabilities at a rapid rate.
“The Snark Mk I and Mk II will be museum pieces,” says TGR Helicorp’s Trevor Rogers. “The Snark MkI had an Australian Jabiru engine which we had both turbocharged and fuel injected and developed our own aircooling system and were getting more than 200 horsepower in a vertical engine format with the blessing of Jabiru’s Phil Ainsworth who is a good friend of mine.”
“The Mk I was giving us eight hours of range,”said Rogers. “The only problem was that it ran on AVGAS and the military want everything to run on a single fuel. So we made the decision to go with a heavy fuel engine and that has turned out to give us a big advantage over the competition as we’re unique in that we’re the only people with a VTOL UAV with a diesel engine.
“There’s a small fixed wing aircraft called the Diamond which is actually powered by a small Mercedes Benz car engine but apart from that, we’re the only ones with a diesel and we have created a purpose built engine for the task – using engines built for automotive use often leads to problems because they’re not designed to run flat-out all the time.
“The engine is designed and built by Delta Hawk in the United States and we’re doing a lot of development work and we’ve taken the engine from 160 horsepower to 245 bhp and we’re aiming to get it to a reliable 300 bhp in the near future.”
“As far as the Snark’s range, the Mk II extended flight duration to 11 hours and we’ve currently extended that with the Mk III to 24.5 hours. But we’re not far from some significant further developments and we think we can probably get the range up to 30 hours with the payload extended to 2000lb.
In order to extend the range and payload to that extent, TGR Helicorp has significantly reengineered every aspect of the Snark. “We’ve reversed the rotation of the engine, developed and built a new long-life gearbox and we’re attempting to significantly improve on the specifications I’ve already given you,” says Rogers.
“The secret to the next step will be in the remote electronic diesel injection system,” says Rogers. “Normal electronic injection runs at 12,000psi, and we’re in the process of developing an injection system with 33,000psi, which will vaporise the droplets, improve the combustion and offer a range of performance optimisation via the onboard computers that is not available anywhere else right now.”
“It’s already a rocket, but we’re expecting much more,”he grins.
“It’s a full-size helicopter which is 28 feet long,14 feet high and six feet wide”, says Trevor, “so we have a lot of potential yet.”
“The aircraft’s current empty weight is 1060 lb (480kg) and the gross weight is 2500 lb (1133 kg) and our payload is 1500lb (680 kg) which blows anything comparable in the UAV area completely out the door. If we can achieve a reliable 2000lb (907 kg) payload, it will become just that much more capable.
“We have fitted 24 missiles, eight defence missiles that we build ourselves and it can fit two Sidewinders too. We’ve even hung a Maverick under it too. It has the potential to be seriously nasty.
“Each snark will sell for US$5 million and will come complete with its own base station making it a very cost-effective one-man operation, autonomous flight aircraft.
“The only aircraft that might vaguely be considered as competition to the snark is the Drummond Fire Scout which is really a 331 Schweizer with 130 lb payload and 65 knots and two hours of range. The specs vary depending on who you talk to, but they’re not really in the ballpark compared to the Snark, and we’ve still got a lot of development potential available to us.”
“The Snark Mk III will fly just before Christmas – after that, we’ll be developing two distinct versions – one for the Army (the Land Snark), and one for the Navy (the Sea Snark), and a civilian version of the Snark is under development and will be unveiled in 2006.
Interested parties can contact Trevor via email.

The Land Walker: the world's first 340cm bipedal exoskeleton

Japanese machinery and robotics manufacturer Sakakibara-Kikai has released the first genuine bi-pedal exoskeleton – a landmark event and one which is certain to attract a lot of attention for the company. Mechanatrons and BattleMechs have long been the subject of scifi books, comics and movies with the promise of cyborg technology popularised by the smash sixties television series “The Six Million Dollar Man.” We’ve previously seen some celebrated exoskeletons in films such as Alien (Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley takes out the Queen alien in an exoskeleton), Star Wars (the AT-ST Imperial Scout Walker) and RoboCop (the ED209), but until now, the nearest thing we’ve seen in the metal was the 3.5 metre superhero exoskeleton Enryu from Tmsuk in Japan. Sakakibara-Kikai’s Land Walker is just a tad shorter than Enryu at 3.4 metres, weighs 1000kg and shuffles along at 1.5kmh. Enryu is a lot faster than Land Walker but uses caterpillar-like tracks rather than legs to perform its chores – the strapping 3.5 metre Enryu will be called upon to rush into burning buildings, lift heavy objects and rescue people.

Initially the Land Walker will be used at exhibitions and demonstrations. It has a gun mounted on each side but they currently only shoot squishy rubber balls. Given a bit of development funding, a bigger motor and a bit more speed though, the Land Walker would make a wonderful psychological weapon. Imagine seeing a platoon of Land Walkers coming over the hill.
There are two movies showing the 250cc four-stroke-engined Land Walker doing its business shooting and walking.
If you want to be the first on your block with one of these impressive machines, it'll cost you 36 million yen - around US$345,000.

Radical-looking RoundTail bike claims radically smoother ride

If you banged a pole and a hoop against the road, which one would transmit more vibrations to your hand? Given that the flexing action of the hoop would absorb some of the energy, it's probably safe to assume that the pole would give you a numb hand quicker. Well, Canadian cyclist Lou Tortola applied the same sort of logic to the frame design of his Tortola RoundTail road bicycle. Where most other bikes would have a rear triangle consisting of straight seat stays, chain stays and a seat tube, the RoundTail simply has two shock-absorbing joined rings.
Tortola came up with the idea last year, after noticing that many of his fellow long-time cyclists had to quit the sport due to discomfort or injuries caused by riding. Already possessing a background in metals and fabrication, he proceeded to build some sample rings to put his concept to the test. After establishing that there was something to his idea, he got custom bike builder Paul Taylor to create a prototype RoundTail.
The frame was then sent to Boulder, Colorado's Microbac Laboratories, where it was tested for horizontal and vertical loading durability fatigue, and impact strength – on all of which it receiving a passing grade. It was also reportedly found to have ten times the vertical flex of a traditional frame, and over sixty times the shock absorption. Lou additionally suspects that the rings will prove to be more aerodynamic than the straight tubes that they replace.
Of course, road-riding speed freaks don't necessarily want a lot of flex, as any frame that absorbs road vibrations also has a way of soaking up pedaling power. While the RoundTail undoubtedly involves some trade-off in this area, Tortola insists that his bike retains the lateral stiffness and pedaling efficiency of regular bicycles.
The rings do add some weight to the frame, although it's reportedly a negligible amount. "The bike you see in the image weighed in at 17.2 lbs [7.8 kg]," Lou told us. "Material for the RoundTail might weigh 250 grams more than a traditional diamond frame... But at the end, the benefits outweigh that difference for certain."
There's no word on pricing or availability as of yet, although Tortola plans to have titanium, carbon fiber, mountain and hybrid versions of the bike ready for the Interbike trade show in Las Vegas this September. The prototype was officially unveiled at the San Diego Custom Bicycle Show last week

Bionic penguins fly through water … and air

April 27, 2009 The latest example of biomimicry in robotics to cross our desk is from German electrical automation company Festo, which has used the shape of the acquatic, flightless bird to construct two different types of bionic penguins. The AquaPenguins use the bird's hydrodynamic body contours and wing propulsion to allow the robot to maneuver in cramped spaces, turn on the spot and, unlike their real-life counterparts, swim backwards. The larger helium-filled AirPenguins use the same principles to lift the usually flightless bird into the air.
Drawing inspiration from nature for the design of robots allows designers to take advantage of millions of years of design refinement through evolution and natural selection. Although penguins are slow and clumsy on land, 40 million years of evolution has resulted in a perfectly contoured body that makes them extremely energy-efficient in water and capable of high speeds. It was these attributes, in particular, that Festo sought to emulate so they could translate the penguin's mechanics into industrial applications.
For the AquaPenguin, the wing skeleton is comprised of spring steel elements embedded in an elastic matrix of silicon. This lets the wings twist to an optimal angle with each stroke through the water. The pitch angle can also be regulated, giving the robotic penguins their maneuverability.
The head, neck and tail segments are based on a new 3D Fin Ray structure, derived from the anatomy of a fish's fin, which allows the penguin to change its “organic” shape to let it move in any direction. The bending structure consists of flexible longitudinal struts with "circumferential connecting elements" that maintain the shape of the elastic skin, and help to steer the robotic penguin horizontally and vertically.
The same basic design principles are also adopted by the AirPenguins, although the 3D Fin Ray structure is modified slightly. To give the AirPenguin elevation, Festo designers filled a ballonet, or small balloon, with about one cubic meter of helium, which can lift about 1 kg. A system of carbon fiber rods and joints, moved by wires and pulley, are used to guide the penguins through the air.
With the AquaPenguins, a powerful electric motor, used to control the rate of flapping, and leverage system to regulate the amplitude of the flapping wings combine to almost perfectly imitate the kinematics of the penguins’ underwater “flight”. The flapping cycles are virtually self-regulating, with little effort needed to maneuver the bird.
The AirPenguins, on the other hand, rely on a series of mechanisms, called actuators, to control how often their wings flap and whether they move forwards or backwards, up or down.
Festo didn’t limit their study to penguins in searching for ideas. Researchers also looked to bats and dolphins to help design the penguins' intelligent 3D sensor system. The AquaPenguins are fitted with special 3D sonar to analyze their surroundings, using broadband ultrasound signals to constantly measure distances to the sides of the water basin, avoid collisions and navigate autonomously or as a group. A separate pressure sensor is used for greater depths.
The same principles are used to navigate the AirPenguins, but their movement is monitored by invisible ultrasound “transmitting stations”.
Festo built the penguins to create opportunities in design and automation technology. Already the company has had some success, using the design of the penguin's body to develop a mechanical hand, called the BionicTripod with FinGripper. According to Festo, the BionicTripod has greater "pick-and-place applications" than conventional tripod designs while the FinGripper has the flexibility to securely grip and deposit fragile or irregular-shaped objects.
Festo is also anticipating the intelligent sensors used by the AquaPenguin will find numerous industrial uses.
The bionic penguins are on show at this year's Hannover Messe Trade Exhibition in Germany.
